Art Department Assistant
25 hours per week, 8.30am – 2pm every day, including a 30 minute lunch break
This is a temporary post for 6 months

Job Purpose:
Our purpose is to maximise the academic achievement and wellbeing of every student at Hazelwick and our staff are essential to that success.
The Art Department assistant will support the department in a range of activities including the maintenance and cleaning of equipment, tools, materials and working environment.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Maintenance and organisation of cameras, studio equipment, photography studio and darkroom.
- Maintenance and organisation of stock, art equipment and classrooms
- Offering classroom support to students with use of cameras, computers and studio equipment as directed by teaching staff.
- Maintenance and organisation of kiln room, clay and related equipment.
- Other duties that may be required to support the art team and students
Experience, knowledge and skills:
An art qualification providing more in-depth knowledge of the various subject areas would be an advantage but is not essential. Enjoyment of, and enthusiasm to support young people in the subject area is essential.
Must be able to communicate with confidence with staff and students, be flexible, and be willing to get your hands dirty.

Pastoral Assistant
25 hours per week, 8.30am – 2pm every day, including a 30 minute lunch break

Job Purpose:
Our purpose is to maximise the academic achievement and wellbeing of every student at Hazelwick and our staff are essential to that success.
The Pastoral Assistants will be assigned to a specific year group and will work alongside the Head of Year team supporting administrative and pastoral duties, working closely with staff and students.
Duties and responsibilities:
Working with the Pastoral Coordinator to:
- Coordinate collection of student work where required
- Monitor attendance
- Mentor students
- Support Year team praise and sanction processes
- Support Year team administration
Experience, knowledge and skills:
Administration and IT skills would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.
Must be able to communicate with staff and students with confidence.

PE Department Assistant
25 hours per week, 8.30am – 2pm every day, including a 30 minute lunch break

Job Purpose:
Our purpose is to maximise the academic achievement and wellbeing of every student at Hazelwick and our staff are essential to that success.
The PE Department assistant will provide support to the department in range of activities including support in lessons and the maintenance and cleaning of PE resources.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Support PE teachers in lessons
- Assist in organising equipment for daily PE lessons
- Conduct an audit of equipment
- Maintain equipment/PE cupboards reporting on any equipment that needs replacing
- Maintaining team kit so it is prepared and ready for use
- Keep noticeboards relevant and up to date
- Assist at Hazelwick sports day/Primary events
- Support general photocopying and admin responsibilities
Experience, knowledge and skills:
A PE or sport qualification or involvement/participation in a sports team would be an advantage but is not essential. Knowledge of a range of traditional sports will be an advantage. Enjoyment of, and enthusiasm to support young people in the subject area is essential.
Must be able to communicate with confidence with staff and students, and be willing to undertake physical activity.

Premises Assistant
25 hours per week, 8.30am – 2pm every day, including a 30 minute lunch break

Job Purpose:
Our purpose is to maximise the academic achievement and wellbeing of every student at Hazelwick and our staff are essential to that success.
The Premises Assistant will support the school site team in maintenance of the school buildings and grounds.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assisting with the daily Helpdesk calls alongside other team members
- Waste management, bin collection etc.
- Confirming that classrooms and teaching areas remain Covid compliant
- Liaising with other Site team to ensure the school is clean & presentable
- Linking in with Helpdesk to ensure any noticed deficiencies are highlighted
- Special improvement and maintenance projects such as painting and decorating, carpentry
- Helping the Site team with their own mandate of continually improving the Site and looking at ways in which we can accomplish this
Experience, knowledge and skills:
Experience of practical building, joinery, or painting would be an advantage but not essential.
Must be able to communicate well and enjoy physical activity.
