Music and Drama Showcase- 21st November 2024

This year the Music and Drama departments have collaborated for the autumn concert, showcasing the work that our talented students have been creating in their extra-curricular clubs.  With over 80 performers and an eager technical crew featuring some new talent from Year 7, the fairy-lit stage was set to light up the cold November evening

Nearly 200 audience members came to watch the exciting programme, which featured musical numbers and drama performances from across all year groups.  The evening started with a beautiful folk song with some accomplished melodies that perfectly set the tone for the evening.  Drama Club students in Year 7 then performed a non-verbal piece inspired by the events of World War Two.

The evening saw virtuoso solos from students and a rousing rendition of ‘Highway to Hell’ from the band that had the Drama Club students moshing at the side of the auditorium!  Throughout the evening, Drama Club students from Year 8 and 9 performed scenes from Willy Russell’s ‘Blood Brothers’, which students in Year 8 Drama are currently studying in their Drama lessons.

An energetic and engaging performance of ‘Ain’t no Mountain High Enough’ finished off the evening, leaving the audience full of joy and humming the songs on their way out.
