This month we have information about Online Admissions talks we will be running in November, Novembers Monthly Lecture, University of Sussex Inspire Programme and mock interviews that we will be offering to Year 13 students in Sussex. UCAS have now opened booking for their Teachers and Advisors Conference.

Online Admissions Talks

To support students that are applying for medicine this year or for students that are considering an application next year we have a selection on online talks to support them through the process. These talks will take place online via Zoom.

Monday 4th November - Preparing for a Medical School Interview – 5pm – 6.30pm

An interactive workshop sharing experiences of medical school interviews, exploring the different types of interview questions as well as creating model answers to example questions. We will also cover what you may want to consider for in-person and online interviews.

Tuesday 5th November – Journey Through the NHS – 5pm – 6.30pm

After giving a brief overview of the NHS and its core values, we will begin our journey with Mrs Beaton as she navigates our healthcare service. From an initial GP visit to further clinical investigations, treatment, and finally palliative care, we'll explore what happens at every step of her journey and discuss which members of the healthcare team may be involved.

Thursday 7th November – Getting into Medicine – 5pm – 6.30pm

This talks provides an overview of the application process for applying for medicine. This is an opportunity to ask questions to the Admissions Team at BSMS to clarify any concerns or worries you may have.

Wednesday 13th November – Student Life at Medical School – 5pm-6.30pm

This session showcases some of our current undergraduate medicine students from across different year groups, with plenty of time allocated for attendees to ask our students questions about their experiences.

Further information about each of these sessions, as well as booking information can be found here.

Mock Interviews

We will be running in-person and online mock Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) during November 2024 for individuals who are submitting and/or have submitted a UCAS application to study medicine for 2025 entry (or 2026 for deferred entry).

  • Thursday 21st November (5-6pm)
  • For online interviews, you will need access to a device that can connect to the internet, a camera and microphone (either external or inbuilt).

In-person interviews on the University of Sussex Campus

  • Wednesday 13th November (5-6.30pm or 6-7.30pm)
  •  Saturday 16th November (3.30pm - 5pm or 4.30pm - 6pm).

All attendees are welcome to join for an online Mock MMI debrief session on Thursday 21st November (6-7pm).
