Mechanical Engineering presentations with current undergraduate students
For Teachers and students in Years 12 & 13 interested in studying STEM

In partnership with Imperial’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Student Recruitment Events team are pleased to offer a unique opportunity for students to get a real insight into studying engineering at Imperial College London.

Our second-year undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering are giving presentations on a topic related to their studies - we are inviting Year 12 and 13 students to be their audience to experience what it’s like being a student studying STEM at Imperial. Find out more about bringing your group to join these presentations.

Mechanical engineers create, manufacture and maintain the building blocks of the modern world - from cars and buildings through to aeroplanes and space stations. Mechanical engineering combines science, maths and computing with creativity and imagination, to solve problems and create solutions.

In each 90-minute session students will hear six talks on a range of mechanical engineering topics with the chance to ask any questions they may have. The sessions are running for six weeks during October to December:
 •   Tuesdays 16:00pm-17:30pm from 29 October to 3 December 2024
•   Thursdays 10:00am-11:30am from 31 October to 5 December 2024

This is a great opportunity for your students to see what undergraduate students learn, get a feel for engineering and visit our South Kensington Campus. Fill out our form to register for a place.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences Science and Innovation Competition returns for the new academic year.

Open to teams of young people of primary and secondary school age,  we welcome entries from schools, community and youth groups. If you are a UK school or institution (youth group, scouts/guides etc) we encourage the young people you work with to enter the competition. There is no limit to the number of teams that can enter and registration is now open.

Teams are asked to develop a new and innovative scientific solution to help achieve one of the United Nation’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
To enter, teams will be asked to create a 5-minute film that:

  • Briefly outlines the goal they have selected
  • Describes their innovative solution
  • Explains the science behind their idea
  • Illustrates how their idea would address the goal.

Initial entries will be judged by our team at Imperial College London and finalists will be selected and invited to participate in the finals at Imperial College in April 2025.
